President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Tuesday, 28, that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) wanted to come to power, "it would be much easier" that would create a political party to contest elections.

"If, in a continent like ours, an Indian and a metallurgist can win the presidency, why would anyone FARC disputing elections, can not you?" Lula said in Rio Branco (AC), in press conference after meeting with Peruvian President Alan García.
Lula made the statements while commenting a conversation with the U.S. president, Barack Obama, who suggested looking to Latin America with a different perspective, because the continent has changed since the Cold War, and there are no groups that use armed struggle except FARC.
